Obituary: Marjorie "Marge" Hoffman (Porto Funeral Homes)

Porto Funeral Homes

Marjorie "Marge" Appolonia Mirabella Hoffman, a vibrant soul who danced through life with exuberance, passed away peacefully at the age of 101 on January 17, 2026. Born April 13,1924 in New Haven, CT to Immaculata Concetta (Margaret) Luzzi Mirabella and Stephen B. Mirabella. Marge was affectionately dubbed "a piece of work" and a force of nature who left a mark on everyone she met. She loved nothing more than to dance the night away; she could outlast everyone at weddings and parties. She spent years as a West Haven Bopper dancing on the boardwalk of West Haven. She cherished her travels to Europe, Hawaii, Florida and Las Vegas; but her greatest joy came from returning home to her family whom she adored above all.

Marge worked for the City of New Haven for many years, beginning as a school crossing guard in the 1940's and retiring at 80 after years as a secretary at East Rock School. She was known for her vast array of hats which she wore for every occasion with the signature style that defined her.

Marge's life was full of love for her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and her many cherished friends. Her legacy is one of joy, proving that age is only a number. Marge taught us to relish every moment and her spirited legacy will be carried forward by her loved ones.
