Richard Philip van Etten, 95, who joined his father at Van Etten Oil before founding the Durland-Van Etten insurance agency and was widely known for competing in 10K races well into his seventies, died Jun. 17.
Rosalyn E. Teachworth, 74, an avid gardener and animal lover who rescued strays and injured wildlife and traveled widely across the country in search of new experiences, died Jun. 14.

Susan Schaffer Campbell, 82, a teacher who began her career in first grade at Gales Ferry Elementary School, learned the bagpipes at 60, volunteered as a Meals on Wheels driver, and visited classrooms dressed in Civil War garments to teach history, died May 21.
Daniel Ross Jones, 78, an electronics technician who spent more than 50 years at Pratt & Whitney, served as president of IAM Local Lodge 700 in Middletown, was a Vietnam War veteran, and operated a micro cut flower farm, died May 19.

Doris Ann Recor, 84, who co-founded a chiropractic business in Westerly, RI, served as a justice of the peace officiating many marriages, and was an avid bird watcher, cook, and gardener, died May 4.
Alan Taylor Bradford, 89, an English professor at Connecticut College for 44 years who chaired the English Department, edited "Thomas Traherne: Selected Poems and Prose" for Penguin Classics, and was a lifelong animal lover known for walking his neighborhood daily with dog treats in his pocket, died May 3.
