NORTHERN CONNECTICUT — The National Weather Service said that northern Connecticut should be prepared for strong-to-severe thunderstorms between 5 p.m. and 11 p.m. Saturday.

Today: Increasing clouds, with a high near 88. Southwest wind 5 to 14 mph, with gusts as high as 25 mph.

Tonight: Showers and thunderstorms likely, mainly before 1am. Some of the storms could be severe. Mostly cloudy during the early evening, then gradual clearing, with a low around 64. West wind 6 to 9 mph, with gusts as high as 20 mph. Chance of precipitation is 60%. New rainfall amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms.
Sunday: A chance of showers, mainly after 2pm. Increasing clouds, with a high near 81. Northwest wind 10 to 15 mph, with gusts as high as 25 mph. Chance of precipitation is 30%. New precipitation amounts of less than a tenth of an inch possible.
