Trumbull Student Wins Congressional Essay Contest: Town

TRUMBULL, CT — Town officials congratulated a Trumbull third grade student this week on winning U.S. Rep. Jim Himes' America 250 essay contest.

According to the town website, Frenchtown Elementary School student Gabriella Gomez won in the elementary division and will receive a congressional certificate.

She will also be recognized during a ceremony scheduled to be held Thursday in Norwalk, according to the town.

Additionally, her essay will hang in Himes' office and be shared on the congressman's social media.

According to the town, students in the 4th Congressional District were asked the following question: "What do you value about our American democracy, and what are your hopes for its future? How will you play a role as an active participant in the future of our democracy?"

Elementary, middle and high school students in the district were invited to participate in the essay contest by submitting a written response to the question.
