WALLINGFORD, CT — A traffic stop led to the arrest of two people and the seizure of two kilograms of cocaine last Wednesday in Wallingford, according to police. The incident happened around 6:10 p.m. on July 22 when a Wallingford Police K-9 Unit stopped a white Acura MDX on the Exit 15 I-91 North on-ramp. "K9 Sevro, a narcotics-certified Tan Belgian Malinois, conducted a free air sniff of the vehicle's exterior, which resulted in a positive alert to the odor of narcotics," police wrote in a news release. "K9 Kip, a narcotics-certified Black Labrador Retriever, then conducted a search of the vehicle's interior and discovered two packages containing a total of four pounds and twelve ounces of cocaine." The driver, 31-year-old Bryan Roberto Rodriguez of Meriden, and passenger, 38-year-old Samuel Diaz of New Britain, were both arrested and taken to Wallingford Police Headquarters. Rodriguez was charged with possession with intent to sell, possession of a controlled substance and failure to display plates. He was held in lieu of a $100,000 bond with a court date of Aug. 11.
