She ‘Works Tirelessly To Help Others’: Wallingford Star Student

WALLINGFORD, CT — Star Students are found in classrooms, on concert and theater stages and at debate lecterns, and out in the community doing good things to make life better for all of us.

Here at Patch, we've launched an initiative to help recognize Star Students, and we’re working to tell the stories of these outstanding kids to their neighbors.

This submission comes from Gina, who nominated Chelsea of Wallingford.

Why do you believe the star local student should be recognized?

Chelsea is a kind-hearted, dedicated & driven individual who works tirelessly to help others. Since the age of 7, Chelsea has organized an annual book drive & bake sale benefiting a local organization providing books to children in CT. In 10 years, Chelsea donated over 30,000 books! Since early elementary school, Chelsea has been involved in efforts to help others in the community as a member of K-kids, volunteering through the National Honors Society & SkillsUSA.

Chelsea's dedication is also reflected in achieving the honor of class Valedictorian. Along with her community service efforts and academic achievements, Chelsea also holds a part-time job and has created her own business. Chelsea has also won awards, locally & nationally, in SkillsUSA related competitions. Chelsea has also been a dancer (tap, ballet & jazz) for 13 years.

Chelsea's goal is to attend college in the fall majoring in Marketing where she can expand on her creativity and graphic design experience. She also hopes to pursue a minor in dance; as this has always been one of her greatest passions.

What's one thing you want everyone to know about the star local student?

Despite Chelsea's many successes, we are most proud of Chelsea being recognized for her strong work ethic & humility. Chelsea has the ability to make everyone feel special for their individuality. Along with her loving heart, she has an amazing sense of humor & quick wit.
