Piano music will be performed by professional pianist Bil Groth, who, after completing studies in jazz improvisation and composition at the Berklee College of Music, spent 15 years as a professional musician in Memphis, Tennessee, and Atlanta, Georgia, before returning to his home state of Connecticut. He performs with four area bands, including his own jazz group and provides music for New London's All Souls Church services and choir rehearsals.
Also taking time from her busy schedule to play will be Waterford High School sophomore Ivanka Haglund, now in her fifth year of piano lessons with Oxana Lauria at Thames Valley Music School. She also plays cello in the Waterford High School chamber orchestra and trombone in the jazz band. Ivanka is on the girls' swim team, runs distance races on the indoor track team, and in her spare time, teaches swimming lessons and is a lifeguard. She is also a videographer for the Waterford School Board meetings and also serves as student liaison to the Board of Education.
