Croft, Zaldivar, McBride: Recent Death Notices From Waterford

WATERFORD, CT — Recent death notices from Waterford.

Richard C. Lord, 90, died Sept. 3, 2026. He served in the U.S. Army and worked at Pfizer before joining the local carpenters union, then went into business for himself as Richard C. Lord, Builder, constructing custom homes throughout the area. He is survived by three children, including Dorothy "Dottie" Ferguson of Niantic and Jeffrey Lord of Waterford.

Michael Phillip McBride, 77, died Sept. 2, 2026. He graduated from New London High School in 1967 and worked for AT&T/SNET for 42 years, retiring as a plant analyst in 2012. He volunteered for many years with Waterford youth sports. He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Karen Contillo McBride, and two sons.

Mauro Oscar Zaldivar, 91, died Aug. 28, 2026. He worked two jobs for more than 45 years, at Pfizer and Lawrence & Memorial Hospital, after emigrating from Cuba in 1956. He is survived by a daughter, a son and five grandchildren.

Domenica Croft, 80, died Aug. 23, 2026. Known as "Nicki," she was church organist at Saint Agnes in Niantic for many years and was active at the Waterford Senior Center. She is survived by her son, Jerry Croft, and his wife, Nancy.

Elizabeth Ann Carp, 97, died Aug. 23, 2026. She worked as a secretary for ACES in Hamden and served as a eucharistic minister at Saint Rita's Church. She is survived by two daughters, four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

George Anthony Joseph, 85, died Aug. 10, 2026. He served in the U.S. Navy as a torpedoman's mate aboard the submarine tender USS Orion, then spent more than 50 years in real estate, most recently as an appraiser, while also teaching for the CT Real Estate Academy. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Mary, and three children.
