Back To School: West Haven 2026-27 School Calendar

WEST HAVEN, CT — Summer is starting to wind down as the first day of school in West Haven is quickly approaching.

Students will return to the classroom in West Haven Public Schools on Monday, Aug. 31.

Heading into the upcoming school year, some dates are subject to change.

Here’s a list of dates to know for this school year, according to the 2026-2027 district calendar:

• First day: Aug. 31
• Labor Day, no school: Sept. 7
• Yom Kippur, no school: Sept. 21
• Columbus Day, no school: Oct. 12
• Election Day / Staff Professional Development, no school for students: Nov. 3
• Veterans Day, no school: Nov. 11
• Thanksgiving Break, no school: Nov. 26-27
• Winter Recess, no school: Dec. 24 – Jan. 1
• Martin Luther King Day, no school: Jan. 18
• Winter Break, no school: Feb. 15-16
• Eid al-Fitr (no school for students, Professional Day for staff): March 10
• Good Friday, no school: March 26
• Spring Recess, no school: April 12-16
• Memorial Day, no school: May 31
• Projected Last Student Day: June 14

Note: Snow days will be added on after June 14: If there are more than 5 snow days or school closings, the BOE reserves the right to amend this calendar.
