Join Weathering the Storm: Get Prepared, a two-part NOAA-funded workshop series designed to help older adults prepare for severe weather events. Learn simple, practical strategies to stay safe before, during, and after storms, flooding, high winds, and power outages.
Participants will learn how to:
<ul><li>Create a personalized emergency plan </li><li>Build an effective emergency kit </li><li>Stay informed and respond to weather alerts </li><li>Prepare for unique needs, including pets </li></ul>
Older adults, caregivers, and those who support them are encouraged to attend. Members of the general public are also welcome. Hosted by UConn Extension in partnership with the West Haven Library, this series provides tools and resources to help protect you and your loved ones.

Join Family First Initiative for the first RiSE Up Youth Legacy Circle, Finding Your Voice, an interactive evening where youth will build confidence, strengthen leadership skills, and connect with peers in a positive and encouraging environment.
Participants will engage in meaningful conversations, learn from guest speakers, take part in hands-on activities, and explore how the choices they make today can shape their future, their families, and the legacy they leave behind.
Dinner will be provided, and every participant will leave with new ideas, valuable resources, and meaningful connections.
This session also begins a four-part Legacy Circle journey that includes:
<ul><li>Finding Your Voice</li><li>Bridging the Generations</li><li>Using Your Voice</li><li>Celebrating the Village</li></ul>

The way it works is simple: between 10am and 1pm, purchase one of our bags for just $10 and fill it up with as many books as it can hold! Arriving early allows for the best pick of the selection.The price of the bags will be reduced to $5 from 1pm to 2pm.This event will be held at the Main Library in the back parking lot. If there is rain during our hours of set-up (8am to 10am) the sale will be moved indoors to our community room downstairs!All proceeds from this fundraiser go toward sponsoring library programs, museum passes, and so much more!
