1 Injured After Car Crashes Into Apartment Building In Westport: FD

WESTPORT, CT — The driver of a car was injured Thursday afternoon when the car the person was operating smashed into a first-floor apartment at Canal Park in Westport, according to fire officials.

No one was in the apartment at the time, and no other injuries were reported.

"Arriving units found that a vehicle had left the roadway, struck a parked car, and crashed into an apartment building," fire officials wrote on Facebook. "The driver was quickly evaluated and treated by Westport EMS before being transported to an area hospital with non-life-threatening injuries."

Whether the driver might face charges is not immediately known.

Firefighters stabilized the building to ensure the structure remained safe.

The Westport Building Department and the Fire Marshal’s Office assisted fire personnel at the scene.
