Coleytown Middle School Students To Perform 'Pure Imagination' Musical Revue

WESTPORT, CT — Coleytown Middle School students will take the stage Nov. 5 and 6 for "Pure Imagination," a musical revue featuring 14 songs from Music Theatre International's Broadway Junior collection.

The production features students in grades six through eight performing selections from several musicals, including "Pure Imagination" from "Willy Wonka JR.," "In Summer" from "Frozen JR.," "Revolting Children" from "Matilda The Musical JR." and "Freak Flag" from "Shrek The Musical JR."

The revue focuses on themes of imagination, individuality and friendship.

Directed by Katie Bloom, the production includes students with varying levels of performance experience. The show is designed to provide opportunities for students to develop their performance skills and work together onstage.

"I am so excited to be directing Pure Imagination and to have the opportunity to work with the incredible team at Coleytown Company," Bloom said. "From the beginning, I've been so impressed by the talent of this cast and, even more, by how well they support and work with one another. There is such a wonderful energy among them."

Bloom, Coleytown Company's new director, said the production has allowed her to become familiar with the students and their individual abilities ahead of the spring musical.

"One of the things I love about this show is that it really gives every performer a chance to shine," Bloom said.

Performances are scheduled for Thursday, Nov. 5, at 6 p.m. and Friday, Nov. 6, at 7 p.m. at Coleytown Middle School.
