Westport Volunteer EMS Accepting Applicants For October EMT Course

WESTPORT, CT — Westport Volunteer Emergency Medical Service is accepting applicants for an Emergency Medical Technician course beginning Oct. 5.

The in-person course, led by WVEMS instructors, will cover emergency medical skills including basic bandaging, childbirth and care for patients with multiple traumatic injuries. The course is designed to prepare students to respond to emergencies as part of an EMS team.

"We need motivated individuals looking to give back to our community in one of the most important ways imaginable: answering their call for help," WVEMS President Jaime Bairaktaris said in a statement.

The course is open to students with or without previous experience. Participants come from Westport and elsewhere in Fairfield County and learn skills that can prepare them to volunteer with emergency medical services.

Volunteer emergency medical service has been a tradition in Westport since 1979, according to WVEMS.
