Westport ZBA To Continue Duck Pond Road Pool Hearing, Review 4 New Variance Requests

The Zoning Board of Appeals is scheduled to meet next week.

WESTPORT, CT — The Westport Zoning Board of Appeals is scheduled to continue a public hearing on a proposed swimming pool at a Duck Pond Road property and consider four additional residential variance requests during its meeting on July 28.

The meeting begins at 6 p.m. and will be held virtually via Zoom. Click here to view the agenda.

The board's first agenda item is the continuation of a public hearing that opened July 14 for a proposal at 15 Duck Pond Road. The application, submitted by Franco Iannone of R.I. Pools Inc. on behalf of property owners Eric Coburn and Tracie Sundack, seeks a variance from the town's total coverage regulations to allow construction of an in-ground swimming pool. The board also is scheduled to consider whether the proposal is consistent with the town's Coastal Area Management Regulations.

The board also is scheduled to hold public hearings on four new residential applications seeking zoning relief.

At 296 Main Street, an application submitted by Cindy Tyminski of Moon Gardens LLC on behalf of the property owners requests variances from setback, building coverage and nonconforming construction regulations to build an addition, detached garage and covered patio.

A separate application for 64 Hillspoint Road seeks variances to allow construction of an addition and retention of an existing patio at a nonconforming property.

At 254 Saugatuck Ave., the board is scheduled to consider a request to retain grading within 5 feet of a property line, slopes exceeding 20 percent and a mechanical and grill pad. The application seeks variances related to setbacks, grading and fill regulations.

The final public hearing is for 17 Bauer Place Extension, where the property owners are requesting a variance from building and total coverage regulations to construct an in-ground swimming pool, rear entry and outdoor kitchen.

Following the public hearings, the agenda includes a work session with sections for new business, old business and other Zoning Board of Appeals business.
