Jay Heritage Center

The Jay Heritage Center (JHC) is proud to welcome educators to our site during September 2026, Constitution Month, to commemorate our nation’s journey towards independence and democracy. The free program is co-sponsored by the Mid-Hudson Social Studies Council. The event will be the first of many lively conversation about America at 250 with some of our country’s leading history scholars. It is open to teachers throughout the Mid Hudson and Sound Shore communities as well as Fairfield County.
Professors David Blight, Frank Cogliano, Joanne Freeman and Beverly Gage will take the stage at the new Wachenheim Center to examine the history of the nation-state and the contested nature of American national identity. The panel will discuss what the United States and the Constitution have meant to citizens over time and how that vision has changed or stayed constant. &nbsp;The event is FREE but registration is required. Cove Park Wethersfield

Wethersfield Historical Society presents the 44th&nbsp;Annual Old Wethersfield Arts &amp; Crafts Fair on Saturday, October 3&nbsp;from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm. Join us for a day of community, fun, and celebration on the beautiful grounds of Cove Park in the heart of the oldest and largest historic district in&nbsp;Connecticut. Browse hand-made items, shop for unique gifts, meet the artists, and watch demonstrations from over 90 juried artisans and vendors. There will be pottery, woodwork, prints, jewelry, textiles, and fabric art, painting, photography, and so much more. Free parking is available along State Street, and adjacent to the DMV.&nbsp;
While Google gives the address of Cove Park as 533 Main Street, fair goers would be better served using the Solomon Wells House (220 Hartford Avenue) or the DMV (60 State Street) as a frame of reference.&nbsp;
The Old Wethersfield Arts &amp; Crafts Fair is a benefit that supports Wethersfield Historical Society,
 a 501(c)3 non-profit, membership supported organization founded in 
1932. The Society offers free admission to the Wethersfield Museum year 
round in addition to providing quality educational programming that 
improves the lives of residents and helps preserve the oldest and 
largest historic district in the state of Connecticut. Tickets go on 
sale September 1. Purchased in advance, tickets are $7. They are available online through EventBrite or you can save the online fees and purchase in-person by check or cash at our offices in the Old Academy&nbsp;(150 Main Street, Wethersfield) 10:00 am to 4:00 pm, Monday through Friday. On Wednesday's the box office will close between 1pm and 2pm to accommodate our regularly scheduled staff meeting Purchased at the gate on the day of the event, admission is $10. Current members of Wethersfield Historical Society and children under 12 accompanied by an adult are admitted free of charge. Due to the nominal nature of the admission charge, only cash will be accepted at the gate.

Nationally known author and activist Jonathan Wilson-Hartgrove will speak on the ways religion has been manipulated to support an authoritarian political movement in the U.S. Oct. 4 at Rocky Hill Congregational Church.
All are welcome at this free event. No tickets are needed.
Wilson-Hartgrove, a prominent voice in today’s moral movements for justice and democracy, will address how communities can strengthen democracy rather than undermine it. 
Wilson-Hartgrove is co-author of the Substack “<a href="https://ourmoralmoment.substack.com/" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">Our Moral Moment</a>” with <a href="https://www.theologyandpolicy.yale.edu/bishop-william-j-barber-ii" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">Bishop William Barber</a>, author of 15 books, and is a highly sought-after speaker.
“We’re living through a moment when people are searching for clarity and courage,” said Rev. David Figliuzzi, RHCC’s pastor. “Jonathan’s work helps communities understand what’s happening and how we can respond in ways that build connection rather than deepen division.”
“This talk is for anyone – religious or non-religious – who is concerned that the U.S. is becoming more authoritarian, that democratic norms are eroding, and who want to know what they can do about it,” Figliuzzi said. 
Rocky Hill Congregational Church, which celebrates its 300th
anniversary in 2027, is a progressive United Church of Christ. The event reflects its ongoing commitment to actively working for justice in the community and beyond.
