Town Warns Of Fake Tickets Tied To Speed/Red Light Cameras

WETHERSFIELD, CT — Wethersfield police are warning residents to be on the lookout for fraudulent violation notices claiming to be connected to the town's speed and red-light enforcement program.

The Wethersfield Police Department posted an example of the official written notice motorists would receive by mail if cited through the enforcement program.

Police said residents who receive anything other than the official notice should consider it fraudulent.

"Attached is a written notice of violation you would receive by mail from our speed and red light enforcement program," police said. "If you receive anything other than this notice, it should be considered fraudulent."

The warning is intended to help residents distinguish legitimate notices from potential scams using the enforcement program as a pretext.

Anyone who receives a suspected fraudulent notification should contact the Wethersfield Police Department at 860-721-2901, police said.
