Driver Charged With DUI, Risk Of Injury With Child In Vehicle: Wilton Police

Police said an officer stopped a vehicle after seeing it swerving on Danbury Road.

WILTON, CT — A Norwalk man is facing several charges, including risk of injury to a child and second-offense DUI, after police said he was driving while impaired with a child passenger.

Wilton police stopped a vehicle around 5:39 p.m. Aug. 9 after an officer saw it swerving within its lane on Danbury Road near Old Highway, according to police.

Police identified the driver as 45-year-old Cirino Castillo-Lopez of Norwalk. Police said a child was also riding in the vehicle.

Castillo-Lopez showed signs of impairment and was asked to perform standardized field sobriety tests, according to police. He did not perform the tests to standard and was taken into custody, police said.

Castillo-Lopez was charged with second-offense operating a motor vehicle under the influence, second-offense operating under the influence with a child passenger, operating a motor vehicle without an ignition interlock device, failure to drive in the proper lane and risk of injury to a child.

He posted $350 toward a $5,000 cash bond and was scheduled to appear Aug. 19 in Stamford Superior Court, according to police.
