Bradley Airport To Add 1,500 Parking Spaces

WINDSOR LOCKS, CT — Bradley International Airport is expanding a surface parking lot on Schoephoester Road, a project expected to add more than 1,500 spaces and increase the airport’s overall parking capacity by about 20%.

Construction on Surface Lot 3 is well underway and nearing its midpoint, according to the Connecticut Airport Authority. The lot will grow by approximately 14 acres, with completion expected this winter.

The expansion was made possible by the relocation of rental car services and Postal Road, airport officials said. Work includes demolition, drainage installation, grading, new pavement, LED lighting, new parking equipment and a relocated entrance and exit plaza.

The project is part of Bradley’s broader parking strategy under its BDL sPARK brand. The airport has also installed digitized signage and a parking-guidance system in its garage.

“We are seeing increased demand for our parking product,” Connecticut Airport Authority Executive Director and CEO Michael W. Shea said in a release. He said the upgrades are intended to improve the passenger experience while helping keep operating costs low for airline partners.

The parking work follows more than $250 million in terminal-wide improvements, including a new concourse, expanded TSA checkpoint, new exit lanes and passenger meet-and-greet areas. Urban Lodge Brewing Co. has opened at the airport, with Chick-fil-A, Sergio’s Go and Sparrow Pizza expected in the coming months.
