East Windsor Supermarket Expected To Open Soon

EAST WINDSOR, CT — East Windsor’s new Aldi supermarket could open its doors as soon as October, according to town officials.

The 20,664-square-foot store is at 151 Prospect Hill Road, near Interstate 91 and between the Comfort Inn and RTNC Auto Wash. Construction appears largely complete, although Aldi has not publicly announced an opening date.

The company is now hiring full- and part-time employees for the East Windsor store, including a full-time store associate and a part-time cashier and stocker.

Plans for the supermarket were approved by the East Windsor Planning and Zoning Commission in April 2025. The development’s first phase includes the store, a 1,167-square-foot canopy and 95 parking spaces.

A second phase could add a 2,400-square-foot coffee shop with a drive-thru, but that portion of the development would require a separate application and approval.

The commission also unanimously approved a special-use permit in July allowing Aldi to pursue a grocery beer permit. Under the approval, any future change in the type of liquor license would require the company to return to the commission.

The supermarket is being built on a 4.15-acre property near Cracker Barrel and the state Department of Transportation garage. It will join nearby Aldi stores in Enfield, Vernon, South Windsor and Rocky Hill.

Aldi has not yet added the East Windsor location to its public store directory or released grand-opening information.
