Teen Drove 90 MPH In Woodbury, Police Say

WOODBURY, CT — A 17-year-old is accused of driving 90 mph in a 45 mph zone, Woodbury police said.

On May 6, a Woodbury police officer saw a Toyota Tundra traveling westbound on Route 64 at an "extreme rate of speed," police said.

Laser radar confirmed the vehicle was traveling at 90 mph in a posted 45 mph zone, police said.

Upon the officer’s attempt to close the distance, the 17-year-old operator increased their speed and briefly moved out of the officer's line of sight after rounding a corner, police said.

Dispatch was immediately notified, and other officers were advised of the vehicle's description and last known direction, police said.

A short time later, a Woodbury police officer located the vehicle parked at a business in town. During the subsequent investigation, the operator admitted to seeing the officer and acknowledged passing multiple vehicles at high speeds, police said.

The teen was issued a motor vehicle summons for reckless driving and their license was seized for a period of 48 hours.
