Dermatology Partners Hosts MLB Hall of Famer Mike Schmidt for "Play Sun Safe" Event

Dermatology Partners, a privately owned, physician-led dermatology group serving the Mid-Atlantic region, will host baseball legend and MLB Hall of Famer Mike Schmidt at Frawley Stadium, home of the Wilmington Blue Rocks (801 Shipyard Drive, Wilmington, DE), on Thursday, September 3, at 5:45 p.m.

Schmidt will join Dermatology Partnersand the Richard David Kann (RDK) Melanoma Foundation to give a presentation on the importance of sun safety in advance of that evening’s game. The presentation is part of the organizations’ “Play Sun Safe” campaign, a community-focused initiative to combat skin cancer by bringing sun safety education and free sunscreen access directly to local sports fans and players.

Schmidt is a melanoma survivor who is dedicated to ensuring the next generation of players and fans understand the importance of skin protection.

“As a professional baseball player, I spent most of my career in the sun—without sunscreen,” Schmidt says. “While my career was thriving, my skin was being damaged by the harmful rays of the sun. Now, I’m committed to making sure the next generation of players and fans understands how to protect themselves.”

The presentation by Mike Schmidt, which is open to everyone attending the September 3 game, will be held in Frawley Stadium’s General Admission Area. Dermatology Partners will be distributing sunscreen samples and sun safety education materials to everyone attending Schmidt’s presentation prior to the game.
