BRADENTON, FL — A bald eagle in distress was rescued from a busy street Monday morning in Bradenton. (Watch a video from the rescue below.)

“An eagle-eyed good Samaritan” spotted the bird near 8th Street W. and Manatee Avenue, Bradenton police wrote in a social media post.

Officers found the sizable eagle, believed to be 4- to 5-years-old, struggling to fly.

They detained the bird in a patrol car for its own safety, police wrote. “Very carefully - he wasn’t happy.”

Experts from the Wildlife, Inc. Education & Rehabilitation Center picked up the eagle and brought it to an emergency veterinarian.

“We hope the beautiful bird will once again be able to soar over the Friendly City,” police wrote.
