As COVID-19 cases surge in Florida, here's where you can get tested in the Bradenton area ahead of your New Year's Eve celebration.

MANATEE COUNTY, FL — New COVID-19 cases are surging as Florida moves out of Christmas and into another holiday, New Year’s Eve.

The state broke single-day records for new coronavirus cases two days in a row over the holiday weekend.

On Christmas Day, 32,850 new COVID-19 cases from Dec. 24 were reported in the Sunshine State, according to data from the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

That number broke the state's previous record – set just the day before on Christmas Eve, when 31,758 new cases were reported from Dec. 23.

According to data from the Florida Department of Health, the state saw a new case positivity rate of 13.8 percent and 125,201 new coronavirus cases from Dec. 17-23.

In Manatee County, there was a 6.9 percent positivity rate and 824 new cases reported during this period.

Those interested in getting a COVID-19 test in Manatee County ahead of their New Year’s celebrations can do so at the Bradenton Area Convention Center, which is located at 1 Haben Blvd. in Palmetto. It's operated by Manatee County and Nomi Health.

The testing site is open through New Year’s Eve from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.

After closing on New Year’s Day, the site will reopen Jan. 3 at a new location in the parking lot at the northwest corner of 8th Avenue and 14th Street West in Bradenton.
