Whole Foods Sets Opening Date For Manatee County Store

Specialty grocer Whole Foods has set the opening date for its first store in Manatee County.

BRADENTON, FL — Whole Foods is coming to Bradenton, with the specialty grocery chain set to open its first Manatee County location on Nov. 5, according to a news release.

The 42,000-square-foot store will be located at the Marketplace at Heritage Harbour, 7295 State Road 64 East, in Bradenton.

It will open its doors at 8 a.m. on Nov. 5 with daily store hours of 8 a.m. to 9 p.m.

The closest Whole Foods locations are in Sarasota, at 5298 University Pkwy. and 1451 1st Street. The grocer is also slated to be part of a mixed-use redevelopment of the Sarasota Square Mall site, Patch previously reported.

The Bradenton store will be Whole Foods Market's 40th location in Florida and will feature more than 450 products from more than 115 Florida-based suppliers, the company said.

Among the local products will be lion's mane mushrooms from Lion Farms, salsa from Sunset Salsa, juice from 305 Squeezed, littleneck clams from Cedar Key Seafarms, smoked fish dips from Key West Smoked Fish Co. and beef from Adams Ranch Natural Beef.

The store will feature a full-service seafood counter with fishmongers, a meat counter with butchers who can cut steaks and poultry to order, and a specialty cheese department staffed by trained cheesemongers.

Other departments will include prepared foods, fresh bakery, produce, grocery, wellness and beauty.

The prepared foods department will offer hot and salad bars, fresh pizza, gourmet sandwiches and sushi prepared daily by Genji. The bakery will offer bread baked fresh daily along with specialty items including Whole Foods Market's Berry Chantilly Cake.

Shoppers will also find an extensive beverage selection, including more than 650 wines and 250 craft beers. Local craft beer options will include Green Bench Brewing Co., Tampa Bay Brewing Co. and Coppertail Brewing Co.

The store's local offerings will also include hand-pulled mozzarella from Mozzarita, chocolates from Norman Love Confections, dulce de leche and flan from Momma's Baked Goods, and rugelach and challah from Simply Delicious Bakers.

To celebrate the opening, coffee from Buddy Brew Coffee will be served the morning of Nov. 5.

The first 300 customers in line will receive a limited-edition Bradenton tote bag and a Secret Saver coupon offering savings of up to $100.

Whole Foods also plans to make food and monetary donations to Good Neighbors, a local organization that regularly picks up surplus food from Whole Foods stores to help prevent food waste and serve the community.

The company said grocery pickup will become available shortly after the store opens.

Whole Foods Market, founded in 1980, is part of Amazon's Worldwide Grocery Stores and operates more than 560 stores across the United States, Canada and the United Kingdom.
