Budget-Friendly Retailer Comes To FL In Aggressive Expansion Strategy

A budget-friendly retailer is bringing new stores across two brands to FL as part of its aggressive expansion strategy.

Shoppers looking to stretch their dollars on clothing, shoes and home goods have more bargain-hunting options as Ross Dress for Less and its sister chain, dd's Discounts, expand their footprint across the country, including in Florida.

Ross Stores, the parent company of both chains, said Monday it is on track to 51 stores in 17 states during September and October, completing an expansion that added 115 locations nationwide in 2026. The expansion comes as shoppers continue looking for ways to make their money go further on everyday purchases, the company said in a news release.

Not all of the stores have been officially announced, but new listings on the company’s store locators show 20 new Dress for Less and 10 dd’s stores in more than a dozen states.

Two new Dress for Less stores are now open in Miami at 8265 West Flagler and 3787 NW 7th Street, Suite 101.

There’s also a new Dress for Less store in the Panhandle, at 2507 S. Ferdon Blvd. in Crestview.

The company also opened a new dd’s Discounts in central Florida, at 775 South Orange Blossom Trail in Apopka.

Florida has 18 dd’s Discounts stores and more than 200 Ross Dress for Less stores, according to LocationsCloud.

Ross Dress for Less officially markets itself as selling brand-name and designer apparel, accessories, footwear, and home goods at 20 percent to 60 percent below regular department and specialty store prices.

Its sister chain, dd's Discounts, targets shoppers seeking even lower-priced merchandise, advertising savings of 20 percent to 70 percent compared with regular prices at moderate department and discount stores.

Both chains use an off-price retail model, buying merchandise at discounts and selling it at prices below those typically charged by traditional retailers. Selection varies by location, and shoppers may not find the same merchandise from one visit to the next.

The company's expansion reflects its confidence that consumers will continue looking for bargains, particularly on clothing and other household purchases that compete for room in family budgets.

Ross opened its first stores in Massachusetts during the latest expansion and added locations in New York and other established markets. dd's Discounts continued growing in California, Florida and Texas.

The company operates about 2,377 stores in 45 states, D.C., Guam, and Puerto Rico.

Richard Lietz, Ross Stores' executive vice president of property development, noted ongoing growth potential as consumers seek brand-name bargains. He said the company aims to expand to at least 2,900 Ross Dress for Less and 700 dd's Discounts locations, though future opening dates are unannounced.
