Girl, 16, Shot Near New Port Richey School; 2 In Custody: Reports
Two people are in custody after a 16-year-old girl was shot near a New Port Richey middle school, reports said.
NEW PORT RICHEY, FL β Two people were taken into custody after a 16-year-old girl was shot near Gulf Middle School in New Port Richey on Wednesday morning, according to multiple reports.
The shooting happened near Louisiana Avenue and Colonial Drive just before 7:30 a.m., the Tampa Bay 28 reported.
The girl was hospitalized and is in stable condition, WTSP said.

Two people at the scene when New Port Richey police responded to the shooting were taken into custody, WFLA reported. One of them had an outstanding warrant. Their names havenβt been released.
Schools in the area, including Richey Elementary School, Gulf Middle School and Gulf High School, were put on controlled campus status after the shooting as police investigated, the Pasco Sheriffβs Office said. The controlled campus was lifted by 11 a.m.
