$58M HQ Expansion Planned By Tampa Defense Manufacturer

TAMPA, FL — Tampa Brass & Aluminum, a defense manufacturer that produces components for the U.S. Air Force and Navy, is expanding its Tampa headquarters following a series of new military contract awards.

The company plans to invest $58 million in new machinery and equipment, and create 50 jobs with an average annual wage of $83,200, according to a news release.

The expansion comes as Tampa Brass & Aluminum grows under new ownership and works to increase its production capacity, the news release said.

The company provides advanced manufacturing services ranging from raw materials to finished products, producing missiles, submarine components and other mission-critical assets for the military.

As part of the expansion, the company is hiring for several positions, including non-destructive testing technicians and supervisors, quality control inspectors, welding inspectors, and nuclear engineering technicians.

The company considered expanding its operations in Amarillo, Texas, before choosing Tampa. A strong local workforce and quality of life helped make Tampa the preferred location, the news release said.

“Tampa gave us everything we need to build the next chapter of this company — a skilled workforce, a strong manufacturing base and a community that backs advanced industry,” Aubrey Greene, president of Tampa Brass & Aluminum, said in a statement. “This investment is a commitment to Hillsborough County and to the service members who depend on the products we deliver to our armed forces.”

The Tampa Bay Economic Development Council supported the expansion by providing market analysis and bringing together regional partners to address several needs associated with the project.

Those efforts included work involving utility sales tax exemptions, power upgrades, Quick Response Training grants and development of an apprenticeship training center.

The expansion is expected to add more high-skill manufacturing jobs to Hillsborough County's workforce.

“We’re grateful to Tampa Brass & Aluminum for creating more rewarding career opportunities for Hillsborough County residents,” Hillsborough County Commissioner Ken Hagan, chair of the Board of County Commissioners, said in a statement.

Hagan said the project demonstrates the county's appeal to manufacturers working in defense and other advanced industries.

Archie Collins, president and CEO of Tampa Electric and FY2026 chair of the Tampa Bay Economic Development Council, said TBA's investment reflects the diversity of the county's manufacturing sector.

“Tampa Brass & Aluminum’s expansion is a great example of the strength and diversity of Hillsborough County’s manufacturing sector,” Collins said in a statement.

He said the company's plans are particularly significant as the region works to expand advanced manufacturing companies and supply chains supporting the defense industry.
