The Hillsborough County Aviation Authority Board approved a contract to bring CLEAR+ and eGates to Tampa International Airport this fall.

TAMPA, FL — CLEAR’s biometric screening is coming to Tampa International Airport.

The Hillsborough County Aviation Authority Board approved at Thursday’s board meeting a contract with CLEAR to launch its security screening checkpoints at the airport this fall, a news release said.

The agreement will bring CLEAR+ Lanes and automated eGates to each of the airport’s four Airside terminals for the first time.

According to the airport, CLEAR+ members will be able to enter dedicated CLEAR+ lanes and move through an eGate before going directly to physical screening. The airport said the automated gate verifies identity in under five seconds by matching a traveler’s face to their ID and boarding pass.

Bringing CLEAR+ to Tampa International Airport will allow travelers to move through screening faster, improving the checkpoint process and the overall airport experience, the airport said. CLEAR’s expedited identity verification experience provides a faster and more predictable checkpoint journey for TPA travelers, according to the release.
