Former AG Pam Bondi Diagnosed With Thyroid Cancer After Trump Firing: Report

TAMPA, FL — Former U.S. attorney general Pam Bondi was diagnosed with thyroid cancer weeks after being fired by President Donald Trump.

Though a source told Axios that Bondi was battling cancer, the Tampa native, who also served as Florida attorney general from 2011 to 2019, confirmed the diagnosis to CNN on Wednesday.

Bondi said that she was diagnosed after leaving the Justice Department in April.

The 60-year-old is undergoing treatment, which included surgery several weeks ago, and is recovering, telling CNN that she is “doing well, though.”

Katie Miller, a conservative podcaster, the wife of senior White House aide Stephen Miller, and a former advisor for the Department of Government Efficiency and the President's Intelligence Advisory Board, congratulated Bondi on her cancer battle in a Tuesday post to X even before the former attorney general confirmed her illness.

“Pam has been quietly kicking cancer's [expletive] the last few weeks. [Pam Bondi] has a heart of gold,” Katie Miller wrote in the post, sharing the Axios article.

Bondi was removed as attorney general by the president in early April. Todd Blanche, who served underneath her as deputy attorney general, was appointed acting attorney general after her ousting.

She is scheduled to testify before the House Oversight Committee on Friday as part of its investigation into convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein, who took his life while jailed and awaiting trial in 2019.
