Once Beloved National Retailer Making A Comeback With 8 New FL Stores

A national home goods retailer that declared bankruptcy and shuttered its remaining Florida locations in 2023 is making a comeback.

The Container Store recently began what it called a chainwide "store changing" event that will result in the return of Bed Bath & Beyond products.

Bed Bath & Beyond is slated to return to 98 locations nationwide, including the following eight in Florida:

• 6000 Glades Rd. Ste. 1002, Boca Raton
• 500 Seabiscuit Trail Ste. 1000, Hallandale Beach
• 850 NE 2nd Ave. Ste. 129, Miami
• 7200 N. Kendall Dr., Miami
• 4088 Millenia Blvd., Orlando
• 11201 Legacy Ave., Palm Beach Gardens
• 14530 SW 2nd St., Pembroke Pines
• 4720 W. Spruce St., Tampa

“This is a reset with purpose,” said Jen Pape, senior vice president of stores at The Container Store. “We’re creating the space and flexibility needed to introduce Bed Bath & Beyond products and deliver a more complete home experience for our customers.”

The company said the reimagined stores will "combine The Container Store's organizing solutions, in-home services and expertise with an expanded home assortment and complementary offerings from Bed Bath & Beyond."

The company said it will liquidate about 30 percent of select The Container Store inventory to make room for Bed Bath & Beyond products.

The transition is expected to begin this month.

Home furnishings giant Bed Bath & Beyond filed for bankruptcy in April 2023, when it also began closing its remaining stores nationwide, including those in Florida.

The firm said at the time its 360 Bed Bath & Beyond and 120 Buy Buy Baby stores and websites would remain open and continue serving customers as it "begins its efforts to effectuate the closure of its retail locations."

At the height of its success, Bed Bath & Beyond had nearly 70 retail locations in Florida.

The company cited online competition and a weakening economy for sales troubles in 2023 that it said led to a 40 to 50 percent drop in sales during the first quarter of that year.
