These Are The Top-Ranked Hospitals In Tampa Bay: U.S. News

TAMPA BAY, FL — In its new 2026-2027 Best Hospitals ranking, released Tuesday, U.S. News and World Report rated the top hospitals in the nation and Florida.

The publication also went one step further and ranked the top hospitals in the Tampa Bay area.

The annual report, now in its 37th year, evaluated 274 hospitals in Florida. Thirty-two meet U.S. News standards and are recognized as Best Regional Hospitals.

As for Tampa Bay-area hospitals, here are the top five, which also made the statewide ranking, according to U.S. News:

  • No. 1 - Tampa General Hospital (No. 6 in the state)
  • No. 2 - Morton Plant Hospital, Clearwater (No. 15 in the state)
  • No. 3 (tie) - AdventHealth Tampa and AdventHealth Zephyrhills (No. 18 in the state)
  • No. 5 - AdventHealth Wesley Chapel (No. 21 in the state)

This is the 11th year in a row that Tampa General was named the top hospital in the Tampa Bay region.

This year, U.S. News also introduced regional specialty rankings for cancer; cardiology, heart and vascular surgery; orthopedics; and rehabilitation, giving patients another way to identify highly rated care closer to home.

Tampa General ranked nationally in the following medical specialties: at No. 47 in diabetes and endocrinology, No. 19 in gastroenterology and GI surgery, No. 21 in obstetrics and gynecology, No. 49 in pulmonology and lung surgery, and No. 45 in urology, and as high performing in cancer, geriatrics, neurology and neurosurgery, and cardiology, heart, and vascular surgery.
