Security Guard Fatally Shot While Trying To Break Up Acworth Bar Fight

Acworth Police say a security guard attempted to break up a fight when a man pulled out a gun and fatally shot him.

ACWORTH, GA — A security guard was shot to death after police say he attempted to break up a fight around 2:45 a.m. Sunday at a Cowan Road bar.

Acworth Police identified the accused gunman as Daniel Di Vonne Parsons, 25, of Douglasville.

Parsons was accused of shooting Jordan Alexander Jones, 28, of Lawrenceville. Police said Parsons was involved in a fight when he pulled out a gun and shot Jones, who was trying to break up the fight.

Jones was taken to Wellstar Kennestone Hospital, where he died, police said.

Parsons then ran near Baker Road and was arrested without incident, police said.

He was taken to the Cobb County Adult Detention Center and faces charges of aggravated battery, aggravated assault and felony murder, police said. He is being held without bond, police said.
