Here's Every Tornado To Hit GA So Far In 2026

More than two dozen tornadoes have blown through Georgia so far this year, indirectly killing two people and injuring a handful of others.

Tornado season annually begins in March and ends in May in Georgia.

This is when AccuWeather predicted a peak of severe weather in the Peach State. Activity was expected to be low during this time period.

However, Georgia has been rattled by 25 twisters since the start of January, with multiple tornadoes spawning in a single day. These were caused by thunderstorms or gusty winds.

Tropical Storm Arthur on June 18 produced 10 tornadoes, indirectly leading to the deaths of two people after a weakened tree landed on a car the morning after the storm. Two other people were injured.

Other tornadoes so far this year have injured two people in a flipped mobile home and caused a teenager to be trapped inside a bedroom.

More than 1,000 tornadoes are forecast to surface this year in the U.S.

With more than half of the year gone, these are all the tornadoes to slam Georgia so far this year. (All data and details were provided on Aug. 1 by the National Weather Service.)

Jan. 10 - Carroll County

• Location: southern Carroll County, south of Lowell
• Damage: A home near Lake Circle and Staples Dairy Road sustained damage. The roof cover of a two-story home was lifted, and a siding was severely damaged. The home, however, was intact. Barn debris was propelled at least 300 yards, and the barn was almost dismantled. A second barn was damaged, and several trees were uprooted as the twister trekked across Liberty Church Road. The tornado also significantly damaged a third barn at a home east of Liberty Church, tearing its roof and destroying its walls.

• Damage: The tornado took down trees and power lines at Sharp Street, near the Jones Street intersection, causing power outages. Additional trees were toppled in the yards of homes near Highway 42, near the Montpelier Avenue and Rowland Lane intersection, Pecan Circle at its intersection with Montpelier and Virginia Avenue, Slippery Rock Place and Hickory Place. The twister "narrowly missed" Mary Persons High School.

March 12 - Macon County

• Location: Marshallville
• Injuries: Two people in an overturned home were injured.
• Damage: The tornado uprooted several trees in a large pecan orchard at Bryant Hill Road, where it touched down. Four mobile homes west of Sleepy Hollow Road were destroyed. Another home was overturned, injuring two people. Several others sustained damage. A resident was tossed about 40 feet from the homes that was destroyed. Additional damage included uprooted trees east of Highway 49, two silos that had their tops tore and tree damage near Vegetable Road, County Road 123 and County Road 116. The tornado lifted north of Juice Plant Road, east of CR 116.

March 12 - Bibb County

• Location: Macon
• Damage: Trees were snapped west of Highway 74 (Mercer University Drive), near Windy Hill Drive. This is where the tornado spawned. McCleary Lane and Lochewolde Drive homes were damaged, with the most severe damage consisting of broken windows, garage doors, a roof and shingles. Tucker Road trees came down, and an electrical transmission pole was knocked over by a tree and was bent across Tucker. After capsizing more trees along North Mumford Road, the tornado lifted near The Highlands community.

March 12 - Peach/Houston Counties

• Time (local): 6:56-7 a.m.
• Location: It touched down south of Highway 96, west of Lakeview Drive, in northeast Macon County before moving into eastern Peach County.
• Damage: Trees were snapped along Lakeview, and the downed trees damaged several homes. A garage door collapsed inwardly, and the siding of the home was damaged. Trees fell along Highway 96, east of I-75, and multiple power poles snapped. North of Highway 96, the roofs of homes were stripped, windows were broken and doors were pushed inwardly. After crossing Brantley Ridge and tearing through more trees, the twister lost strength before lifting ahead of Lake Joy Road.

March 12 - Dooly County

• Location: east of Pinehurst, near Everett Road
• Damage: Portions of a metal roof were blown from a small house along Rocky Ford Road. A center pivot in a field was overturned. The tornado lifted while crossing Pinehurst Hawkinsville and 3rd District roads.

March 12 - Baldwin County

• Location: Milledgeville
• Damage: The tornado caused a tree to fall down onto a vehicle at State Dairy Road before taking down more trees near Blandy Road. After passing by Blandy Hills Elementary School, the tornado hit a city public works building and damaged a canopy at Charlton Street. Continuing its rampage, the tornado finally dissipated Baldwin Avenue.

March 12 - Twiggs County

• Location: southwest of Jeffersonville
• Damage: More than 30 trees were either snapped or uprooted along I-16 westbound, Green Road, Highway 96, the intersection of Missile Base and Prospect Church roads and other areas.

March 12 - Laurens County (1)

• Location: east of Rentz
• Damage: Trees were damaged along Etheridge Road and GB Lindsey Road. A roof sustained minor shingle damage at GB Lindsey; and elsewhere, a home was significantly damaged. A large chicken coop on the home's northeast side was destroyed and moved about 30 feet.

March 12 - Laurens County Tornado (2)

• Location: Pinehill Road, east of its intersection with Highway 441 and northwest of its intersection with Hartley Road
• Damage: Several trees were damaged, and a metal road sign was bent. Power poles were pushed.

March 16 - Southeast DeKalb County

• Estimated Peak Wind: 75 mph
• Path Length: 2.77 miles
• Max Path Width: 135 yards
• Time (local): 6:11-6:15 a.m.
• Location: touched down near the Snapfinger community, west of Tarragon Drive
• Damage: A teenager was trapped inside a bedroom on the second floor along Tarragon. The NWS did not report any injuries. Uprooted trees fell onto two homes along Gracehill Road and Oak Run Drive. The homeowners were present when the trees crashed into the homes, "including one narrowly missing them while in the bed." The tornado trekked along Valley Oaks Road and along the intersection of Salem and Panola roads. A Salem Springs Place home sustained roof damage.

March 16 - Upson County

• Damage: At least 30 trees fell or were uprooted, and a small outbuilding was damaged. A home near McCard Road and Highway 74 had minor damage.

June 18 - Muscogee County

• Damage: Several homes near Fulton Road had minor damage from trees and debris. A large tree fell onto a home at Bentley Drive.

June 18 - Schley County

• Time (local): 7:44-7:47 p.m.
• Location: La Crosse
• Damage: Storms brought in a tornado that forced trees to come down as the twister crossed Heath and La Crosse roads. The tornado lifted as it crossed railroad tracks south of County Road 271.

June 18 - Crawford/Monroe counties

• Max Path Width: 175 yards
• Time (local): 7:50-8:06 p.m.
• Location: The tornado touched own along Highway 41 in Crawford County before eventually moving into Monroe County near Tharpe Road.
• Damage: Due to fallen trees, homes were moderately to severely damaged in the area of Hudson Hill Drive, Shady Dale Drive and Lower Simmons Road in Monroe. Wind led to roof damage, and cars were crushed. Trees and power lines in both counties were knocked down.

June 18 - Monroe County

• Location: Five Points
• Damage: The twister crumbled trees along Tobler Creek near Searcy Drive, Highway 23, Rivermist Road and Popes Ferry Lane, Ocmulgee River, Highway 18 and Five Points Road. It lifted past the intersection of Five Points and Hitchiti roads.

June 18 - Jones County

• Location: Wayside
• Damage: Tree damage south of a Wayside community, near Green Settlement Road, across Monticello Highway and on Wayside Farm was present. The tornado lifted south of Otis Redding Drive.

June 18 - Jones County

• Location: Hungerford Road
• Damage: The tornado crumpled trees along a wooded area near Hungerford Road and along Jackson Road before lifting in a wooded area west of Hungerford.

June 18 - Jones/Baldwin/Putnam counties

• Path Length: 10.14 miles
• Max Path Width: 175 yards
• Time (local): 8:51-9 p.m.
• Location: The tornado touched down in northeastern Jones County, south of Damascus Church Road, before eventually traveling into Baldwin County via Mathis Road (where it became Lumpkin Road). Then, it moved into southern Putnam County by way of Whipporwill Lane and Phillips Road.
• Damage: Several trees sustained damage along Roosevelt Road, Highway 129, Highway 212 near Lake Sinclair, Napier Road and Twin Bridges Road. At least two homes were damaged due to falling trees in the area of Lake Sinclair. The tornado lifted near Lake Sinclair.

June 18 - Putnam County

• Time (local): 9:04-9:07 p.m.
• Fatalities: Two people died, and two more were injured, as an indirect impact of the tornado.
• Location: Flat Rock
• Damage: Several trees came down east of Nona, and along Twin Bridges Road, Welches Trail, at the intersection of Highway 441 and Pea Ridge Road and Pea Ridge Circle. The next morning, a tree that was likely weakened by the twister fell onto a vehicle. Two people died, and two more were injured. The NWS reported the incident was an indirect impact of the tornado or the storm.

June 18 - Putnam/Greene counties

• Location: Lake Oconee
• Damage: Several trees fell onto homes in the areas of Quail Hollow, Chieftain Way, Tomahawk Ct, Cherokee Trail and Howard Lewis Road. The tornado caused a boat and boathouse to flip and partially sink, and downed several power lines.

July 28 - Pickens County
