Tropical moisture will drive the storms in the Southeast and mid-Atlantic, starting Thursday in eastern Texas and pushing toward the East Coast by the weekend, AccuWeather reported.
Up to 3 inches of rain are anticipated in the impacted region, with locally higher amounts possible, forecasters said.

Flash flooding may be a problem in some low-lying and urban areas, including those in Georgia, according to AccuWeather.

There are above 50 percent storm chances for several major cities in the Peach State through Monday night, including Atlanta.
Though there is a bit of uncertainty with how much downpour could fall, rain amounts could surpass 2 inches and reach more than 5 inches in some towns.
High temperatures will be in the 80s through Saturday before dropping to the 70s on Sunday. Lows are expected to linger in the 60s and low 70s.

Friday Night: A chance of showers and thunderstorms. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 70. South wind around 5 mph becoming calm. Chance of precipitation is 40 percent.
Saturday: A chance of showers, then showers and possibly a thunderstorm after 2 p.m. High near 84. Calm wind becoming south around 5 mph in the afternoon. Chance of precipitation is 80 percent.
