Gwinnett Officer Arrested In Domestic Dispute
A Gwinnett County Police officer has been arrested on simple battery charges in connection with a domestic dispute, authorities say.
GWINNETT COUNTY, GA — A Gwinnett County police officer has been arrested in connection with a recent domestic dispute, authorities said Monday.
Gwinnett County Police said the incident occurred Thursday night. Officer Renee Downer was accused of pushing the victim onto a couch during an argument, police said.
Downer and the victim, who had been in a relationship, recently separated and were living together when the victim prepared to move, police said.

While investigating, police said officers determined Downer had previously used law enforcement resources to track the victim's location during a prior incident.
Downer was arrested on charges of simple battery and stalking after being identified by officers Friday, police said. She was relieved of duty, pending administrative review, police said.

"The Gwinnett County Police Department remains committed to the highest standards of professionalism and accountability. All officer database activity is monitored and audited for compliance," police said in a news release.
