Is Lilburn Affected by Expanded Meat Recall?

The U.S. Department of Agriculture's Food Safety and Inspection Service announced Friday (April 12) that Manda Packing Company, a Louisiana distributor, is recalling roast beef, ham, turkey breast, tasso pork, ham shanks, hog head cheese, corned beef and pastrami.

The federal agency confirmed the products were shipped for distribution and to deli stores in Georgia and several other states. The recall is due to a possible Listeria monocytogenes contamination.

Kroger, which has outlets in Lilburn, announced on April 11 that the recall affected its stores in Texas and Louisiana. There has been no word since then about the expanded recall, according to the Kroger website.

Approximately eight types of meat sold under 41 different names with various “sell by” dates are listed on the recall list. Some of the meats and cheese may have been sliced at delis and may not contain packaging information. The retail distribution list will be posted on the FSIS website when it becomes available.
