GA Trooper Injured In 3-Vehicle Pileup In Sandy Springs

A trooper was unable to stop in time when traffic suddenly halted along GA-400, causing a three-vehicle pileup.

SANDY SPRINGS, GA — A Georgia trooper was injured in a crash after they were unable to stop their patrol car while traveling along GA-400, leading to a three-vehicle pileup Tuesday afternoon, authorities said.

The trooper was heading north on GA-400 near Abernathy Road around 3:45 p.m. when traffic suddenly stopped, according to the Georgia State Patrol.

The trooper could not stop in time and rear-ended a second vehicle, which then hit the back of a third vehicle, the GSP said. The three vehicles had to be towed from the scene.

The trooper was visibly injured and treated at the scene, the GSP said.

The second driver was medically treated at a hospital, the GSP said. Authorities added though the third driver reported injuries, they refused treatment.
