Woodstock Firefighter Dies While Off-Duty
"His loss is deeply felt throughout our department, and he will be greatly missed," Fire Chief Shane Dobson said of the late firefighter.

WOODSTOCK, GA — A firefighter who recently died in Woodstock was off-duty at the time of his death, city officials said Wednesday.
The City of Woodstock said Senior Firefighter Andrew McMichen died Sunday. Officials did not identify a cause of death for McMichen, who spent four years working for the Woodstock Fire Department.

“Andrew was a valued member of our department, a friend and a brother to those who worked alongside him,” Woodstock Fire Chief Shane Dobson told his department Monday, per city officials. “His loss is deeply felt throughout our department, and he will be greatly missed.”
Dobson requested privacy for McMichen's family, and city officials said they plan to support his family, friends and co-workers.

"The City of Woodstock and Woodstock Fire Department are grateful for Firefighter McMichen’s service to our community," city officials said in a news release.
