IL Farm's Pumpkin Crop Stolen Straight From Field, Business Says
"We're incredibly disappointed that this happened, especially after all the time and work that goes into growing these crops."
CAPRON, IL — Fall is off to a less festive start than planned for a northern Illinois farm that had its pumpkin crop stolen, the business said in a social media post.
Meyers Family Farms in Capron announced Sept. 24 that its pumpkins had been stolen straight from the field.
The farm had planted about 1,000 pumpkin plants, none of which were insured. Only its orange pumpkins were stolen, as the business’s stacker and specialty pumpkins had already been harvested, according to a follow-up social media post.

The theft left the farm unable to participate in pumpkin picking. Customers with pending pumpkin orders would receive a refund, according to the business.
