IL Teen Brought Gun To High School: Police
The student, a 16-year-old boy, faces multiple charges, police said.
ROCK ISLAND, IL — A 16-year-old boy from Illinois faces charges after he brought a gun to school on Monday, according to police.
Officers responded around 10 a.m. to Rock Island High School in the 1400 block of 25th Avenue for a report of a student with a gun, police said.
Staff, using the school’s weapons detection system, discovered the boy brought a loaded firearm to school, according to police, who said the weapon was secured by staff and turned over to officers.

The boy was taken into custody, brought to the Rock Island Police Department, charged with aggravated unlawful use of a weapon and possession of a stolen gun, and later taken to a juvenile detention facility pending court proceedings, police said.
