55 MPH Wind Gusts Possible Thursday Night, Friday In Chicago Area
The strongest winds are expected north of I-80.
After severe weather and mild temperatures to start the week, temperatures will turn a bit cooler, with a chance for potentially damaging wind gusts up to 55 mph on Thursday, the National Weather Service Chicago shared.
High temperatures through the weekend look to be mostly in the upper 40s, according to the current forecast.

Some parts of the Chicago area may even see snowflakes fall on Wednesday, although no snow accumulation is expected, the weather service said.
Then, on Thursday, a period of "strong to potentially damaging non-thunderstorm winds" is expected starting in the evening and through Friday afternoon. The weather service said gusts will be around 45 mph, but some could exceed 55 mph.

The strongest winds will occur north of Interstate 80, the weather service said. Power outages and tree damage are possible with these winds, as well as hazardous driving.
Here's a look at the weather through the weekend, per the weather service:
WEDNESDAY: Rain before 3 p.m., then a chance of rain and snow. Steady temperature around 37. Breezy, with a northwest wind around 20 mph, with gusts as high as 30 mph. Chance of precipitation is 80%. Little or no snow accumulation expected.
WEDNESDAY NIGHT: A 10 percent chance of rain before 7 p.m. Cloudy during the early evening, then gradual clearing, with a low around 28. Northwest wind 5 to 15 mph, with gusts as high as 25 mph.
THURSDAY: Increasing clouds, with a high near 47. West wind 5 to 15 mph.
THURSDAY NIGHT: A 50 percent chance of showers. Cloudy, with a low around 39. Windy, with a south wind 15 to 20 mph increasing to 25 to 30 mph after midnight. Winds could gust as high as 45 mph.
FRIDAY: Mostly sunny, with a high near 48. Very windy, with a west wind 30 to 35 mph, with gusts as high as 55 mph.
FRIDAY NIGHT: Mostly cloudy, with a low around 29.
SATURDAY: A 30 percent chance of snow. Cloudy, with a high near 42.
SATURDAY NIGHT: A chance of rain and snow. Cloudy, with a low around 35.
SUNDAY: Rain. Cloudy, with a high near 48. Breezy.
SUNDAY NIGHT: A chance of rain and snow before 1 a.m. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 17. Blustery.
