A 56-year-old man is accused of killing his ex-girlfriend, nurse Katherine “Kat” Torbick, during what prosecutors described as a seven-hour attack that he allegedly recorded on an audio device, according to reports. Prosecutors say the recording captured arguments, threats and assaults before Torbick — an employee at an Algonquin MedSpa — was strangled to death inside her home on April 30.

Police found Torbick dead during a welfare check and arrested Kevin Motykie, 56, at the scene. Authorities say Motykie had a history of domestic violence allegations. The recently released court documents revealed more details into the violent attack leading up to Torbick's death, according to reports. Authorities are working to ID a woman who died in a home explosion Sunday night in Wonder Lake. The explosion and fire leveled the house and damaged neighboring properties, according to fire officials. Investigators from multiple agencies, including the Illinois State Fire Marshal’s Office and ATF, are working to determine what caused the blast.
