Driver Surrounded By 15 To 20 Motorcyclists, Beaten With Helmet: Authorities

LAKE IN THE HILLS, IL — A 35-year-old Sleepy Hollow man is accused of participating in a violent confrontation involving a group of roughly 15 to 20 motorcyclists who surrounded a vehicle in Lake in the Hills on Saturday afternoon, according to police and court records.
The incident occurred around 3:50 p.m. at the intersection of Route 31 and Virginia Road, where authorities said the victim’s vehicle was boxed in and brought to a stop, according to the Lake/McHenry County Scanner. A criminal complaint alleges the suspect, Julio C. Salas, struck the victim in the face multiple times and used a motorcycle helmet during the assault, causing injury and swelling.
Salas is also accused of participating in the group’s efforts to restrain the victim and prevent them from leaving the scene. He faces multiple charges, including aggravated battery, mob action and unlawful restraint, and remains in custody pending court proceedings, according to the article.

Court records show no other suspects have been charged in connection with the incident yet, according to the Lake/McHenry County Scanner report.
