Human Remains Found At Forest Preserve Believed To Be Man In 50s

An investigation regarding human remains and skull found at Raceway Woods Forest Preserve is ongoing.

KANE COUNTY, IL — Authorities have released new details in the investigation into human remains found last month at Raceway Woods Forest Preserve in Carpentersville.

Officials with the Forest Preserve District of Kane County said the remains appear to be those of a male who was at least 50 years old. No additional identifying information has been released as of Monday.

“With a gender and age range, we can start to narrow down who this person might be so that we can help bring closure to someone’s family,” said Paul Burger, the district’s director of public safety.

Burger said forensic analysis is ongoing, though additional details are not expected for at least a month.

The investigation began on April 26 after a Carpentersville resident reported finding a skull in a remote, wooded area of the preserve. Authorities later located additional bones during a search of the area.
