Lake In The Hills Man Charged In Drug Overdose Death
Judge denied pretrial release for Karl Petermann in the fatal overdose case
MCHENRY COUNTY, IL — A Lake in the Hills man accused of providing drugs that led to a woman’s fatal overdose will remain in custody after a judge granted the state’s petition to deny pretrial release, officials said.
Karl Petermann, 43, of Lake in the Hills, has been charged with drug-induced homicide, a Class X felony, along with additional drug possession charges in connection with the woman's death, according to a news release from the McHenry County State's Attorney's Office.
Investigators determined that Petermann provided crack cocaine Thursday to a woman at his apartment in Lake in the Hills. The woman later suffered a fatal overdose later that night, prosecutors said.

The McHenry County Coroner’s Office concluded the cause of death was cocaine toxicity, officials said.
Petermann remains in custody pending trial. His next court appearance is scheduled for June 4, according to a news release.
