Man Fired Gun Inside Lake In The Hills Home During Domestic Dispute: Police

Authorities said Nestor Ramirez Sr. was charged with reckless discharge of a firearm after the incident on Manchester Court.

LAKE IN THE HILLS, IL — A 50-year-old man was arrested after police said he discharged a firearm inside a home during a domestic altercation early Saturday morning in Lake in the Hills.

Nestor Ramirez Sr., 50, of the 0 to 100 block of Manchester Court, now faces charges of reckless discharge of a firearm, a Class 4 felony, and reckless conduct, a Class A misdemeanor, in connection with the incident, which was initially reported as a domestic dispute involving a weapon that had been fired, according to a news release from the Lake in the Hills Police Department.

Police said Ramirez was still inside the home arguing with family members when officers arrived at about 12:30 a.m.on Saturday.

Police safely escorted all family members, except Ramirez, from the residence. With assistance from the Crystal Lake, Huntley and Algonquin police departments, as well as the Kane County Sheriff’s Office, Lake in the Hills police and a trained negotiator were able to convince Ramirez to exit the home and surrender, authorities said.

Authorities said Ramirez discharged a firearm inside the home during the altercation, though not in the direction of anyone, and no injuries were reported during the incident.

Ramirez was taken to the McHenry County Jail following the incident.
