Back To School: Atwood Heights Dist. 125 Academic Calendar 2026-2027

ALSIP, IL—As summer comes to a close, back-to-school planning has already begun in Atwood Heights Dist. 125 for the 2026-2027 academic school year, with calendars available to help parents prepare their students for a smooth transition into the new school year.

The first day of school for grade 1-8 students is Aug. 19, with the first day of kindergarten on Aug. 20. Early childhood classes start Aug. 21.

Some dates are subject to change during the school year. We also suggest that you check the full Dist. 125 calendar or your child’s school (Lawn Manor, Meadow Lane, Hamlin Upper Grade Center) for late starts, early dismissals, exams, open houses, athletic and school events, as well as your child's school.

Here is the list of dates to know for Dist. 125 schools this school year:

Aug. 20 - First day of school, grades 1-8, 8 a.m. to 11:15 a.m.

Aug. 21 - First day of kindergarten; first full day for grades 1-8

Aug. 24 - First day early childhood

Sept. 7 - Labor Day, no school

Oct. 10 - Teacher Institute Day, no school

Oct. 13 - Columbus/Indigenous People’s Day, no school

Nov. 3 - Teacher institute, no student attendance

Nov. 23 - Parent-teacher conferences, 4 to 8 p.m.

Nov. 24 - Parent-teacher conferences, no school

Nov. 25 through Nov. 27 - Thanksgiving break

Nov. 30 - School resumes

Dec. 18 - No early childhood

Dec. 21 through Jan. 4 - Winter break

Jan. 5 - Teacher Institute, no school

Jan 6 - School resumes

Jan. 18 - Martin Luther King Jr. Day, no school

Feb. 15 - Presidents Day

March 25 - No early childhood

March 26 through April 5 - Spring break

April 6 - Teacher institute, no student attendance

April 7 - Classes resume

May 26 - Last day for early childhood student; eighth-grade graduation

May 31 - Memorial Day, no school

June 1 - Kindergarten celebration

June 2 - Last day of school, grades K-7
