Back To School: Cook County Dist. 130 Academic Calendar 2026-2027

BLUE ISLAND, IL—Back-to-school planning has already begun in Cook County SD 130 for the 2025-2026 academic school year, with calendars available to help parents prepare their students for a smooth transition into the new school year.

The first day of school for grade K-8 students is Aug. 17, with the first day of the early childhood program starting Aug. 19.

Some dates are subject to change during the school year. We also suggest that you check the full Dist. 130 calendar in English and Spanish, or your child’s school (Kerr, Hale, Veterans, Revere, Lincoln, Washington, ANCHOR) for late starts, early dismissals, exams, open houses, athletic and school events, as well as your child's school.

Here is the list of dates to know for Dist. 130 schools this school year:

Aug. 17 - First day of school, late start 9:25 a.m. (grades K-5); 9:10 a.m. (grades 6-8).

Aug. 19 - First day of school for Pre-K
Sept. 7 - Labor Day, no school
Oct. 12 - Columbus Day, no school

Nov. 3 - No students attendance, teacher institute
Nov. 24 - Parent/teacher conferences, K-8 half day, no school attendance for Pre-K.
Nov. 25 to Nov. 27 - Thanksgiving break
Nov. 30 - Classes resume

Dec. 21 to Jan. 1 - Winter break
Jan. 4 - Teacher Institute, no student attendance
Jan. 5 - School resumes
Jan. 18 - Martin Luther King Jr. Day, off
Feb. 15 - Presidents Day, off
March 17 - Teacher Institute, Illinois Primary Election, no school
March 29 to April 2 - Spring Break
April 5 - School holiday

April 6– Teacher institute, no student attendance

April 7 - School resumes

May 25 - Last day for Pre-K

May 25 - Graduation, half-day for K-8
May 28 - Last day of classes for K-8 students, half day
May 31 - Memorial Day, district closed
June 1 to June 7- Emergency days, if needed

June 18 - Juneteenth, district closed
