MILWAUKEE, WI—A Milwaukee man pleaded guilty Monday to using a computer to facilitate a child sex crime involving a 13-year-old Alsip boy in 2024. Milwaukee County Judge David Borowski sentenced Emilio Arner-Ortiz, 21, to no more than 15 years in a Wisconsin prison—more time than what was recommended as part of his plea agreement, Fox6 Milwaukee reported.

Arner-Ortiz also pleaded no contest to second-degree sexual assault of a child and misdemeanor intentionally pointing a firearm at a person.

The Alsip boy, who was 13 at the time, was initially reported missing by his parents according to a criminal complaint. The 13-year-old was found in November 2024 on a street corner in Milwaukee, but the youth refused to tell police how he ended up in Wisconsin.

After finding a photo of a man on their son’s computer, later identified as Arner-Ortiz, his parents went back to Alsip police in December 2024, where police determined the boy had been driven by Arner-Ortiz to Milwaukee.

The boy told Alsip police that he and Arner-Ortiz had been chatting online for three years using the Discord app and that he “ran away” with Arner-Ortiz to Milwaukee, whom he believed to be 16. Arner-Ortiz was 19 at the time. The boy traveled back to Wisconsin with Arner-Ortiz, where the two had sex, according to the complaint.

The complaint said the boy referred to Arner-Ortiz as a “dear friend.”

When Milwaukee police went to Arner-Ortiz’s residence on Jan. 6, 2025, to arrest him, police said that Arner-Ortiz pointed an unloaded gun at them. An officer shot Arner-Ortiz in the stomach during the struggle for the gun.

The mother of the now 15-year-old boy appeared on video during Arner-Ortiz’s sentencing. She told the court that while she thought she was protecting her child, there was an adult taking advantage of him, FOX6 Milwaukee reported.

Arner-Ortiz also gave a rambling statement to the judge but did not accept responsibility for the crime. Judge O’Brien cut him off.

As part of his plea agreement, five other charges, including child abduction, child enticement and three counts of possessing child pornography, were dismissed. In addition to 15 years, Arner-Ortiz will spend another 15 years on supervised release following his parole and must register as a child sex offender.
