3 Chicago Teens Charged With Felonies In Mount Prospect Shots Fired Case
The charges stem from a shooting last week involving two 15-year-old boys and a 14-year-old boy.
MOUNT PROSPECT, IL — Three Chicago juveniles have been charged in connection with a shots-fired investigation in Mount Prospect, police announced.
The charges stem from a June 16 shooting in the 1400 block of South Hickory Drive.
Mount Prospect police responded at about 12:11 p.m. June 16, after a 911 caller reported shots fired. A witness told police a Toyota SUV was traveling south on Hickory Drive toward Cottonwood Lane when the front passenger lowered the window and fired multiple shots into the air from a handgun. The witness last saw the vehicle turning east onto Cottonwood Lane.

Officers did not find the vehicle, any property damage or anyone injured when they arrived. Several spent bullet casings were found in the roadway.
Police identified a possible offending vehicle using automated license plate readers in the area. Officers used the system to track the Toyota as it left the area southbound and traveled through Elk Grove Village, possibly toward Bensenville. Surrounding police agencies were notified.

At about 12:31 p.m., Bensenville police officers found and stopped the Toyota, which was occupied by two male juveniles. Both were taken from Bensenville to Mount Prospect police headquarters for further investigation.
Investigators used digital and physical evidence to link both juveniles to the incident on Hickory Drive.
A 15-year-old Chicago boy was charged June 16 with one felony count of reckless discharge of a firearm and one misdemeanor count of mob action. He was taken to the Cook County Juvenile Detention Center in Chicago.
A 14-year-old Chicago boy was charged with one misdemeanor count of mob action and released to a parent.
During the investigation, police identified a third juvenile who had been in the Toyota during the incident.
That 15-year-old Chicago boy turned himself in at Mount Prospect police headquarters June 18. He was charged with one felony count of reckless discharge of a firearm and one misdemeanor count of mob action, then taken to the Cook County Juvenile Detention Center.
The charges are accusations, and the juveniles are presumed innocent unless proven guilty.
